KIRK BROADFOOT is no stranger to the feeling of an angry Rangers support on his back after his stint at Ibrox.

He learned how to handle the boos when the going got tough and now he intends to find out if the current crop are as strong when he returns to Govan with Kilmarnock tonight.

In his five years at Ibrox the defender won three Premier League titles, a League Cup and played in the UEFA Cup Final in 2008.

There were tough times too but Broadfoot can still grin when he recalls some of the roastings he took as the Gers fans made their displeasure clear.

He said: “I have a memories of the crowd being on my back but that is part of being at a massive club. You are going to have highs and lows. You need a strong mindset.

“I was lucky enough to play in a successful Rangers team. We had big players and when the chips were down more often than not they delivered.”

Killie will be trying to pile pressure on Pedro Caixinha and his team and defeat may spell the end of his reign.

Broadfoot is more focused on new boss Steve Clarke’s getting off to a flier.

He added: “Ibrox is a tough place to go but if we get the crowd frustrated, get them on the team’s back by keeping a clean sheet in the first half an hour, that should play into our hands.

“To play with Rangers or Celtic you need to have mental strength, their players have that and there will be a reaction to losing to Motherwell.”
