Doh! MP Jo blames Homer for myth of bungling dads
HOMER Simpson has been blamed for stereotypes about “hapless” dads.
Lib Dem Jo Swinson told fellow MPs during a debate on International Men’s Day that characters like the bumbling Simpsons’ dad had played a role in “undermining” men’s roles as fathers.
Swinson said: “You just look at some of the stereotypes in popular culture, the Homer Simpson type of dads just being hapless and not being up to the job.
“Men are just as capable as women at being parents. There is a myth women are naturally better at parenting.
“But breast feeding aside, there is nothing that women can do as parents that men cannot do.”
