Hearts sweat over Tynie homecoming

WORKERS will graft around the clock in the coming days to ensure Hearts’ homecoming goes ahead as planned.

understand­s Tynecastle labourers have been working flat out, night shifts included, all this week as the club face a race against time to make necessary repairs to have their stadium ready for the weekend.

The Jambos are due to host Partick Thistle in the Premiershi­p understand­s the granting of a safety certificat­e is not a major issue, with the council believed to be flexible on the matter and willing to grant a permit as late as Friday night or Saturday morning.

Hearts owner Ann Budge expects to have a greater indication tomorrow if the match will go ahead or not.

She was present at Tynecastle on Monday as council chiefs and an SPFL representa­tive visited and it is understood several minor issues were flagged up.

If the necessary work can’t be carried out in time Hearts, who have been using Murrayfiel­d for their ‘home’ games this season, will request a postponeme­nt.

That scenario would be the latest setback for the ground which was originally due to open again in September but was delayed until November 5 before a further delay was announced.
