BAY CITY STROLLER

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

RESOLUTION BAY can coast to victory for in-form Philip Hobbs at Taunton.

The five-year-old was a useful hurdler and looks set to be even better over fences after a strong second to Ridgeway Flyer on his debut at Plumpton last month.

The gelding won’t mind the likely decent ground and can improve past some exposed rivals (3.40) under Richard Johnson.

SHOAL BAY (1.35) looks another nice prospect for Colin Tizzard in the maiden. The fourBethell’s year-old landed his bumper in style at Worcester last month and can get off the mark at the first time of asking over timber.

Get in the black with RED ADMIRABLE (2.05) in the staying handicap hurdle.

The 11-year-old kept on nicely for second behind Towering on his comeback at Uttoxeter last month and can go one better back over three miles.

PEGGIES VENTURE (3.10) can claim a trappy mares’ hurdle for Alan King. The six-year-old is useful on her day and looked ready for a step up to 2m 4f when just denied over two miles at Worcester last time.

MULLAGHMURPHY BLUE (3.0) is the best bet on today’s competitive card at Ludlow.

Jim Dreaper’s gelding did me a turn when scoring over fences at Musselburgh last week and the Irish raider can take advantage of a workable mark over hurdles.

MIAMI PRESENT (3.30) rates a confident selection in the Heath Farm Chase. Harriet gelding improved again when landing a tough event at Southwell and can show his rivals no mercy from the front.

QUIET MOMENT (12.40) can start a double for Keith Dalgleish on the all-weather at Southwell.

The filly was a good second to Medici Moon over course and distance last time and can build on that off an unchanged mark.

The Carluke handler can also take the Betway Handicap with MISTER SHOWMAN (3.20).

The gelding was pretty useful for Dan Skelton and scored with plenty in hand on his debut for Dalgleish at this venue last time.

■ Champion hurdler Buveur D’Air and rising star Defi Du Seuil head 12 entries for next month’s Grade One Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle.

■ Yanworth’s chasing career suffered a setback when he fell at Exeter yesterday.

Alan King’s star didn’t travel especially well but was still tracking eventual winner Briery Queen (8-1) when he parted company with Barry Geraghty at the seventh fence.
