MY WIFE RUTH HAS CHA-CHA CHANGED SO MUCH

EAMONN Holmes reckons he’s got himself a new woman - after wife of seven years Ruth Langsford was “reinvented” by Strictly Come Dancing.

The 57-year-old Loose Women presenter was voted off the BBC’s flagship celebrity dance contest with her partner Anton Du Beke last Sunday after eight gruelling weeks.

It meant she narrowly failed to make this weekend’s much-anticipated show at the famous Blackpool Tower.

But Eamonn said: “Strictly’s been wonderful for Ruth. She was having a hard time from the menopause, both mentally and physically.

“Strictly has given her a new direction in life – it has reinvigorated her, re-energised her and reinvented her.

“She knows she has been blessed and been given the chance to do something extraordinary that other women her age don’t get to do.

“I genuinely say that she is very grateful for it and she deserves it.

“When I met her, she didn’t believe in herself and she didn’t have confidence. I just think this is her moment.”

Speaking before she took part in the show, Ruth said she hoped that as one of the older contestants, she could represent the “more mature woman – possibly in the menopause”.

She said: “I am fully in the menopause, there is no denying that.

“The This Morning presenter said she was taking hormones for her menopause now, so it was not affecting her as badly as before.

“It affected my mood, I got tired very easily, my weight … I really struggled and still do, if you’re trying to lose weight.

“When I was younger, I could lose weight very easily and that gets harder.

“I dealt with it until eventually I thought, ‘No, I think I better go and explore the hormones’, which I’ve done and I feel 10 times better.”

Northern Irish TV presenter Eamonn, 57, admitted the pair were “looking forward to having some time together” now Ruth has left the show.

He previously joked that he was a “Strictly widow” because she spent so much time rehearsing.
