Saving you money is all a part of Black Friday

-

WE’RE only seven days away from one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

Black Friday came from across the Atlantic to the UK a few years ago and it has very quickly become a really important date for retailers, mainly online.

Research from cash back shopping site TopCashback.co.uk suggests that nine out of 10 of us will participate this year and for the majority of those who do take part, it won’t be their first time.

Nearly half of us are waiting until next Friday to make a big purchase at a knock-down price, and many of us have put off this purchase for six months or so in the expectation of a huge discount.

This year’s event will take place mostly online, with only two per cent of shoppers saying they will shop in-store only.

We’re going to splash out more cash than ever before this year, with an average spend of well over £500 predicted, a huge increase of £132 over last year.

Clothes look like they will be the top buy this year, closely followed by beauty products, toys, home goods and Christmas presents.

Adam Bullock, UK director of TopCashback. co.uk, said: “Black Friday was originally presented to the UK with images of people rushing around shops fighting over TVs and electricals.

“But now, three years on, Black Friday is largely an online event.

“In fact, last year for the first time, we saw more people logging on to buy from their mobile or tablets than desktops.

“It’s not all TVs and tech either, different types of companies are keen to drive pre-Christmas profits and therefore offer major discounts.

“There are some great deals to be had on mobile, TV and broadband contracts as well as travel and fashion.

“However, consumers are keen to get better deals and are increasingly looking to cashback sites and voucher codes to save even more money.

“Last year, we saw £39.5million pounds being spent through TopCashback during the Black Friday period, meaning on top of the saving offered by the retailer we helped our members save £2.6million.”
