I’llcrack codeof PDCstar Wright

BDO star man Glen Durrant admits it’s an honour to be facing Peter Wright in tonight’s televised Grand Slam quarter-final.

But the Lakeside champion insists the crunch is not about a clash of codes and has played down the significance of potentially stuffing another star from the rival PDC.

BDO No.1 Durrant’s stunning wins over world No.2 Wright in the groups and Dave Chisnall on his way to the last eight has seen him make a point to critics.

The 46-year-old has the chance to switch to the more lucrative PDC next year but is focused on sinking Snakebite in Wolverhampton.

He said: “You put politics aside. I’ve had a couple of interviews where a lot of it is about PDC and BDO but I’m representing myself.

“I am so proud to be the Lakeside champion. More than anyone could imagine.

“There’s been a lot of asking about what I’m going to do next year but never mind BDO and PDC.

“I’ll probably look back on this and think, ‘What a week.’ But I daren’t get too excited because I’ll then probably realise I’m in the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam.

“I’ve got to think of the game and that’s it. But I’m loving every second of this.

“Playing Peter is an absolute honour. On a Friday night, live on the TV. What else can you want?”

Meanwhile, Mensur Suljovic is ready to put the brakes on Gary Anderson.

The Scottish star was at his blistering best against Michael Smith with a dazzling display in the last 16 but the pace changes against the Austrian.

Anderson struggles against the slow play of his rival and lost to him in the Champions League Final.

Suljovic said: “Gary is a fantastic player but I can beat him. I’ve done it before and can again.”
