Heartsin asweat over3rd check-up
EDINBURGH Council officials will inspect the new main stand at Tynecastle Park for a third time this morning as Hearts’ bid to host Partick Thistle on Sunday goes to the wire.
The Jambos are yet to receive a safety certificate after a council visit on Monday threw up several minor issues that must be rectified.
A second inspection took place on Wednesday and construction staff are on nightshifts this week in a bid to sort it out.
Owner Ann Budge visited the main stand yesterday to judge the progress but it is thought the clash with the Jags remains in the balance.
Hearts are praying it proves to be third time lucky when council safety officers return to Tynecastle this morning.
The club hope to be able to announce that the match will go ahead this afternoon.
But if it is apparent the work will not be completed in time, Budge is likely to contact Thistle and the SPFL to formally request the match is postponed.
Hearts have been in constant dialogue with Thistle, with whom they enjoy a positive relationship, and the SPFL regarding the latest situation.
The Gorgie outfit do not expect to receive any punishment from the league’s governing body for failing to fulfil the fixture.
Even if the new structure is issued with the certificate, there will still be no-go areas around Tynecastle.
