She causes £2k damage
A FURIOUS woman smashed up two cars with a baseball bat then barricaded herself in her home after a dispute with her neighbours spiralled out of control.
Lee Brennan, 42, caused £2000 worth of damage to John Bothwell’s Ford Focus and caused repairs costing £400 to his partner Maureen Orr’s Citroen C1.
She then blocked herself in her home in Paisley, prompting police negotiators to attend.
The drama only ended when Brennan plunged 10ft from a window and broke her ankle on landing.
Brennan, who has since moved away, pled guilty at the town’s sheriff court to wilfully and recklessly destroying the cars last May.
She also admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner and conducting herself in a riotous and disorderly manner.
The court heard that the events happened months after an argument in which Bothwell threatened Brennan, telling her he “had a nice wee gun tucked away”.
He was prosecuted for making threats and acting aggressively in a separate case reported by our sister paper the Paisley Daily Express.
Terry Gallanagh, defending Brennan, said: “His behaviour towards her was rather brutish.
“He lately said something to her which was the straw which broke the camel’s back.
“My client almost suffered a breakdown which ended with her jumping out of her window, causing a significant injury to her leg.
“This all stemmed from this neighbourhood dispute.”
Gallanagh added the accused had accepted responsibilty for her actions and didn’t want her new address disclosed in court amid fears of recrimination.
Sheriff Craig Harris deferred sentence to obtain background reports.
Brennan, who has not been in trouble before, will learn her fate on February 5.
