BLOTTOS (3.35) can pay for a few rounds when he lands the 188bet Handicap Hurdle at Carlisle.

Sue Smith’s gelding has been upwardly mobile in novice company over timber and gave a career best when hacking up at Sedgefield last time.

The form of that race has worked out well and the six-year-old can do plenty of damage in handicap company.

BALLINSLEA BRIDGE (2.00) can maintain Olly Murphy’s winning run in the novice hurdle. The lightly-raced gelding cruised to victory over 2m 2f at Market Rasen and the ex-winning pointer can improve again back up in trip.

UNTIL WINNING (3.00) can defy a welter burden for Tom George in the 188bet Handicap Chase. The 10-year-old took a hot Market Rasen contest last time and can follow up thanks to Mr N George’s 7lb claim.

LETEMGO (4:05) can complete a hat-trick for Carluke handler Andrew Hamilton. The 10-year-old slammed the consistent Rivabodiva in a decent event at Ayr and can will take all the beating again.

In-form Rose Dobbin can add the feature three-miler with BAKO DE LA SAULAIE (4:40).

The seven-year-old has taken well to fences and can build on his second behind Shanroe In Milan in a strong Doncaster chase.

THE ARTFUL COBBLER (3.50) looks the best bet in a cracking renewal of the Surrey National at Lingfield. Henry Daly’s grey relished the step up to 3m 2f when scoring in good style at Warwick and can improve again over this extra two furlongs.

■ Elgin is in excellent shape after landing Saturday’s Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton and set to be supplemented for next the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.

■ Our Duke is firmly on track for next month’s Cheltenham Gold Cup after landing Saturday’s Red Mills Chase at Gowran.

■ Flat jockey Ted Durcan is retiring at age 44. The Irishman rode more than 1000 winners headlined by Classic victories on Light Shift in the 2007 Oaks and Mastery in the 2009 St Leger two.

■ Blaklion is recovering well from his gruelling second in Saturday’s National Trial at Haydock. Nigel Twiston-Davies believes the gelding’s gallant run behind Yala Enki has put him spot on for the Grand National in April.

■ Waiting Patiently – in terrific form after his first Grade 1 success in Saturday’s Ascot Chase – may swerve the Cheltenham Festival and wait for Aintree or Punchestown in April.
