We will now win in Russia

- ALAN MARSHALL

EMANUEL MAMMANA has warned Celtic to expect a very different Zenit St Petersburg performance in the second leg.

The Russian club have been slaughtered in their homeland for their timid display at Celtic Park and are under pressure to respond this week.

The Scottish champions take a precious 1-0 lead into the second leg of the Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday after Callum McGregor’s late goal.

And the Argentina defender has vowed his side will take control of the tie after preparing for the second leg at another training camp in Rome.

Mammana said: “It was a very difficult match for us in Glasgow. There were several reasons for this – not least because of the pressure we were under in their stadium.

“Now we have to work hard in Rome and make up for our disappointing display this week.

“We have watched the video against Celtic. Right from the start of the game we made mistakes and Celtic put us under pressure.

“I also believe this was partly due to it being our first match after the break.

“We were consistently losing the ball and making stray passes but it looked like we would have got away with a 0-0 draw until almost the end.

“If we had left Glasgow with a goalless draw it would not have been that bad a result. As it is, losing 1-0 is not a total disaster.

“In St Petersburg we will beat Celtic without any problem. The second leg will be a very different game I can assure you.”
