Whoever said winter was over was talking rubbish

CHILDREN as young as eight have been reported for housebreaking in Scotland over the past three years.

There were a total of 517 under-18s referred to the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration for the offence.

At least two eight-yearolds were reported for breaking into homes in Ayrshire and the Highlands.

There were 208 15-yearolds reported over the period.

Glasgow had the highest total at 79 kids aged between eight and 17, followed by Edinburgh at 65.

Tory justice spokesman Liam Kerr said: “We need to get in and ensure these youngsters are put on the right path, because once people start out on this road to a career in crime, it’s extremely hard to get them off it.” HERE we snow again...

Winter bounced back with a vengeance yesterday – although for many of us, it had never really gone away.

These binmen in Daviot, near Inverness, had to contend with several inches of snow.

Upland areas of the Borders were also hit by more sleet, snow and ice.

Motorists are being warned that snow could spread to lower lying areas today. A yellow warning is in place for snow until 3pm for high ground and low-lying areas including Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Dumfries and Galloway, Edinburgh, Moray, Inverclyde and Fife.

Rain could turn to heavy snow in places, with several centimetres possible, mainly over ground above 200m.
