STEVEN FERGUSON reckons more pressure is on Partick Thistle going into tonight’s bottom-of-the-table battle – because so little has been expected of Ross County.

The Staggies academy chief has had his eye on this game since being put in charge along with Stuart Kettlewell last month with the club three points adrift. That gap remains but a first win of their caretaker reign would see them leapfrog Alan Archibald’s Jags.

Ferguson, who has spent more than 20 years in Dingwall as a player and coach, said: “This is an absolutely huge game for Ross County.

“But it is also an absolutely huge game for Partick Thistle.

“Big Archie and his staff will be saying exactly the same as Stuart and I are to our guys. It is a wonderful game to be involved in because it means so much.

“It won’t dictate exactly how the rest of the season pans out but it will put us in a clearer position.

“They will be feeling the pressure every bit as much as us. To be fair, we’ve been written off a lot more than Partick have so there may even be a little bit more pressure on them.”

A sickness and diarrhoea bug that hit a clutch of players ahead of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Celtic has cleared.

And midfielder Jamie Lindsay said: “It’s massive, probably the biggest game I’ve played in. The confidence and belief a win would instil in the group would carry us on.”
