GARY DICKER reckons working with Steve Clarke can help him in his quest to become a manager.

The Kilmarnock star will continue his education under the gaffer after signing a new deal that keeps him at Rugby Park until 2020.

Dicker has been a stalwart since his arrival almost two years ago but is now starting to combine his playing duties with a spot of coaching with Andy Millen’s development squad.

The Irishman believes he could one day make the step up to be a boss and feels he can only learn from Clarke and his No.2 Alex Dyer.

Dicker said: “I’d been speaking to (academy head) Paul McDonald and Andy kindly let me join in.

“It has been a great learning curve. Those are two great characters who both know their football.

“Hopefully I’ll do my pro licence this summer and it’s enjoyable learning.

“There are no better people to be learning off at the moment than the gaffer, Alex and Paul.

“It’s about picking up as much as you can as a player.”

Dicker though is fully focused on his playing career as he bids to keep Killie’s stunning revival on track.

The 31-year-old said: “We just want to keep improving. The gaffer says you can’t stand still because the minute you do someone will come and walk all over you.

“So hopefully we can keep going well in the league and nick a good cup run next year as well.”
