Hendo nets closer to Bari joy

-

FORMER Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson wants to help Bari back to Serie A to earn his sixth honour with four clubs in three different countries.

The ex-Scotland Under-21 star scored for his new club in front of his watching parents against Salernitana in a 1-1 draw.

Bari snapped him up for a cut-price £115,000 from the Hoops in January and are battling for promotion to the Italian top flight for the first time in eight years.

His goal against Salernitana impressed the Bari fans so much they were chanting his name at the end.

If Henderson, 21, managed to achieve promotion – and Bari are our points off going up automatically – it would add to an already impressive CV.

He has won one Premiership medal and a League Cup with Celtic, a Scottish Cup with Hibs and a Norwegian title and Cup with Rosenborg all in the past three years. Henderson was on loan from Celtic at Easter Road and Trondheim.

And he’s convinced Bari can help him add to his honours collection. Henderson said: “It was nice to score a goal because my parents had come over from Scotland so that goal was for them.

“Every team in Serie B is strong. There are no easy games here and at this stage of the season it’s difficult.

“It’s coming down to the most important part of the season and we need to get points on the board.

“We try very hard to win every game and we can assure the supporters we will do everything to succeed.”
