Kaye: I feared I had breast cancer. I was convinced something was wrong

Presenter tells of relief at all-clear

LOOSE Women star Kaye Adams has revealed her nerve-shredding cancer scare.

The Scots presenter took to social media to tell how she feared she may have breast cancer. As she filmed herself in her car after a medical examination, she discussed her relief at getting the all-clear.

Kaye’s life has been greatly affected by breast cancer. She lost “a very dear friend” to the illness and has watched Loose Women co-host Carol McGiffin battle it.

She was also an ambassador for charity Breast Cancer Care and hosted a fashion show in Glasgow, where all the models were breast cancer survivors.

Kaye, 55, said: “I’ve just been for a breast examination.

“I go and get a doctor to have a feel because I don’t really trust myself so I’ve been in a state of mild panic for the last week. I totally convinced myself that there was something there. Staring at myself in the mirror, feeling and prodding the whole time in the shower in the morning, lying in bed at night.

“By the time I got to the appointment, I was totally convinced that there was something wrong.

“Thankfully, he said there’s nothing he was worried about – but you know I’m torn because I think it’s amazing we have this increased health awareness and we’re much more body conscious.

“Early detection is really important. But maybe it’s just because I’m a basket case but it can tip into low-grade anxiety. I said that to the doctor and he said, ‘You aren’t the only one’.

“‘We have people in here who are constantly checking, checking, checking and if you check hard enough, you are going to find something. You aren’t the only one’. And that made me feel better.”
