Ali’s emotional goodbye after 11 years at Accies

-

ALI CRAWFORD has bid an emotional farewell to Hamilton after confirming he will leave Accies this summer.

The midfielder took to Twitter on the eve of the derby with Motherwell to say his goodbyes.

Record Sport revealed that Hibs are keen to land Crawford and discussions will take place with them – but the 26-year-old was yesterday thinking only of the club he will leave behind.

He tweeted: “I’d like to thank everyone at @acciesfc for the past 11 years, so many memories that I’ll never forget!

“I wish them all the best for the future, they will always have a place in my heart.”

Hamilton head into the derby with Premiership safety all but secured. They can only get dragged into the play-offs with a defeat if Partick beat Dundee and there is a 13-goal swing.

Boss Martin Canning played in an Accies side that won 10-2 against Morton on the final day only to miss out on promotion to Dundee in 2014.

And he said: “It was an eight-goal swing for us. But today it would take a freak set of circumstances

“That (the goal swing) won’t be discussed. It’s about doing our own job.”

But defender Scott McMann is refusing to take anything for granted and said: “Although it’s unlikely, you still don’t feel safe due to the mathematics. Football is a strange game.”
