PAINTBALL WIZARDS

Rennie: Time for my stars to work their magic

- BY DAVID KELSO

DAVE RENNIE took his Warriors paintballing to get ready for Friday’s Pro14 semi battle – now he’s urging his stars to brush Scarlets aside.

The Glasgow boss stepped up preparations for their clash with the champions by arranging some team bonding activities for his heroes.

Now it’s back to business and Rennie has called on top players such as Stuart Hogg and Finn Russell to live up to their star billing at Scotstoun.

He’ll need his big guns on form to seal a title decider with Euro kings Leinster or Munster next weekend.

Rennie said: “It’s important the box-office players stand up and be counted. Everyone needs to front up.

“We had fun as a squad, it’s as important as the hard work. We had paintballing, some golf and awards nights. Now it’s about fine-tuning.

“All heads and bodies are in good shape – they just have to do it on the park.”

Rennie’s biggest headache will be deciding his starting line-up as he looks to claim silverware in his first season in charge.

He said: “Pretty much all the guys are in contention. I have no worries about each of them being ready to play the full 80 minutes.”

Meanwhile, Scarlets prop Tadhg Beirne is wary of the Warriors threat despite beating them last month.

He said: “It’s a different story when you play against top teams in their own backyard with their own fans.”
