BY CRAIG SWAN been on Hibs and I knew I would deal with it later. With Darmstadt staying up, it will be up to them what happens.

“It’s out of my hands. What might happen is they see me as an asset who has gone away and proved them wrong.

“They were playing me in a position that wasn’t mine but I have always scored goals throughout my career.

“They might want to make some money on me or whatever, so those discussions will have to take place.

“If I get to the World Cup they might put a ridiculous price tag on my head – that’s the harsh life of football sometimes. It really will be up to them. and sources Down Under believe the Hibs hero won’t make it.

Maclaren is waiting for official confirmation but he couldn’t have done much more to land a slot after an outstanding spell in Leith.

The hitman’s first goal for Hibs was a winner at Ibrox but he topped that with the thundering treble.

Maclaren said: “That was the craziest game I’ve been involved in. I played in a semi-final in Australia where we were 3-0 up and got beat but this one was 5-5.

“It was a great feeling to score a late equaliser. That was my sixth professional hat-trick.

“We should have won but we are looking back on a season that became a history-making points tally for the club. The boys should be proud of that because throughout the full season they have been fantastic.”

Maclaren also lauded Lennon, despite the manager ripping strips off his team after the Hearts nightmare six days ago.

He added: “The manager said a few things but we’re men, not little boys. You just take it on the chin and move on.

“You go again, try to make the wrongs into rights and we did that against Rangers.

“The manager’s one of the best I’ve worked under. That’s because of his mentality – he just wants to win all the time.”
