JAGS CAN FINISH WHAT LIVI STARTED

-

ALAN ARCHIBALD admits Partick Thistle’s setback against Livingston on the first day of the season is still fresh in his mind.

The Jags are out to preserve their Premiership status when the teams meet in Thursday’s playoff final first leg at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

It’s 10 months since the Championship runners- BY ALAN MARSHALL up edged a League Cup win on penalties.

But Archibald hopes his side can build on Saturday’s last-day decider – when Thistle beat the automatic drop with their second away league win of the season at Dundee – against David Hopkin’s side.

He said: “We’ll treat want to go back. I will have a holiday, refresh my mind and then speak to my agent to see what’s happening. “Until now my full focus has Livingston with the respect they deserve. They’re a good side and we know about them.

“We started the season against them – everybody knows that, all the Thistle fans know it – and we’re finishing with them.

“They’re a good side. We’ll do our homework and be ready for Thursday.

“Having two wins from “If it is goodbye then I’d like to thank everyone at Hibs because it has been great.” As it happens, Maclaren’s World Cup dreams appear to be shattered. Aussie boss Bert van Marwijk is set to cut down his squad for the Russia adventure the final five games will help the confidence, it lifts the negativity. I’ve tried to keep the negative stuff away from the players.”

Archibald, hopeful Chris Erskine and defenders Niall Keown and Callum Booth can shake of injuries to face the Lions, added: “We’ve turned the season into five games because all we were getting, and rightly so, was, ‘You’ve not won here.’ And even on Saturday we had, ‘You’re not going to win because you have only won one away game.’

“But we got the win and can hopefully go in with some momentum. It helps with the mindset and we go into the game in a confident mood.”
