Hoops defender hopes to seal his first clean sweep by ruling the Steelmen with iron fist

But Ajer insists he can rule with an iron fist at Hampden to help Celts blaze their way in to the history books.

The big Norwegian – who is celebratin­g his new four-year deal at Parkhead – said: “We have played against a lot of good teams this year but Motherwell are one of the toughest. They made it very difficult last time. “I had a game against Main when we played away a few weeks ago. He’s a really good striker. Obviously he’s a guy who can hurt us on the day.

“His movement is typical of Motherwell – they are always working really hard for each other and pressing you all over the pitch.

“So you have to be ready every single game. Hopefully we can cope with their threat – but we’ll make sure we make it a tough game for them too. We will be ready. It would mean a lot to me to win the double Treble.”

Ajer is desperate to play his part in the clean sweep after watching from the sidelines last term during his loan spell at Kilmarnock.

He has secured a regular role in the Hoops side this term and would love to cap a superb season by adding the Scottish Cup in front of his biggest fans.
