CAR DEATH SPEEDER FACES JAIL
Mum pleads guilty to killing passenger
A YOUNG mother faces jail after a horror crash that killed one of her passengers.
Natasha Scott, 21, of Ayr, lost control of her Vauxhall Corsa while speeding on a country road near the town.
The car hit a fence, brick wall and telegraph pole before coming to a halt.
Kai Milligan, 21, of Maybole, Ayrshire, sustained fatal injuries as a fence post smashed a side rear window and struck him in the face.
Scott, who became a mum in December, yesterday pled guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and injuring the other three passengers.
The High Court in Glasgow heard a 15-year-old boy needed major surgery to reconstruct his face after the crash and has been left permanently scarred.
A 12-year-old boy suffered head and leg injuries and a 17-year-old girl had pain in her back and stomach.
Scott had her bail continued but judge Lady Stacey warned she is likely to be locked up when she is sentenced next month.
Barry Smith, defending, said Scott wanted to pass on her “sincere condolences” to relatives of the victims. His client sobbed heavily as she left the dock.
The crash happened on the B7024 south of Alloway in July 2016. Prosecutor Duncan McPhie said Scott had “increased her speed” before the car became “airborne” at a hill crest, causing her to lose control.
Crash investigators concluded she was travelling at “excessive speed” before the crash.
