Kluivert Buddie blow

- BY KEITH JACKSON & CRAIG SWAN

HOLLAND legend Patrick Kluivert last night moved to distance himself from claims he is in the running to become the next St Mirren boss.

Reports yesterday afternoon claimed the former Ajax striker was in the running to replace Jack Ross in the Paisley hotseat – and club sources were also adamant that Kluivert, left, was set to become part of the interview process. But this apparently came as a

shock to the Dutchman who instructed his official biographer to take to Twitter last night to deny the 41-year-old has any interest in the position.

Mike Verweij, who is known in Holland as one of Kluivert’s closest associates, tweeted: “British media are sure Patrick is in the running for a job at St Mirren. However, Patrick Kluivert is more sure he has not applied.”

Meanwhile, Guti does see St Mirren as an ideal place to start to his managerial career.

But as yet the former Spain international and Real Madrid hero has received no feedback about taking over from Jack Ross.

The 41-year-old – full name Jose Maria Gutierrez Hernandez – feels the time is right to step up into top-level management and the Saints application has emerged.

Having taken advice from his UK representatives ABC Sports Agency, the Spaniard feels Saints are a good option.

Colin Piechniczek with partner Gustavo Moure of ABC, told Record Sport: “Guti is looking to make a leap forward in his career. He has done his homework on St Mirren and can see potential.”
