JAMIE CHASES DOUBLE
WE’RE NOT RIVALS – YET
ANDY MURRAY may be absent but brother Jamie has his sights set on more Wimbledon glory.
The elder Murray has made the last 16 of the men’s doubles with Bruno Soares and is defending his mixed doubles crown with new partner Victoria Azarenka, with the pair into the second round.
Teaming up with former world No.1 Azarenka came as a surprise though, as Murray only planned to play in the men’s event.
He said: “Bruno was the matchmaker, he texted to say ‘do you want to play with Azarenka?’
“I wasn’t going to play but I was like ‘wow, that’s a great partner’.
Azarenka said: “We’re mixed doubles soul-mates.” WORLD CUP rivalries will be put on ice on Court 12 today when Englishman Dominic Inglot and Croatian Franko Skugor team up in the men’s doubles.
There are no Brits left in the singles in Wimbledon’s second week for the first time since 2007 but there’s still 10 in the doubles.
And Inglot and Skugor will put talk of the semi-final clash aside to face Chile’s Nicolas Jarry and Argentina’s Maximo Gonzalez.
Inglot said: “Hopefully some Brits will be supporting Croatia when we play together – for now!
“I love the fact England are doing so well. We’re looking forward to Wednesday and it’ll be fun to watch it together.”
