Technology sparks fraud crime boom
FRAUD offences are rising – and technological advances are making it easier for the crooks.
Figures show fraud crimes rose from 1955 between April and June last year to 2584 in the same quarter this year.
Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Graham said: “Advances in technology create an increased vulnerability when tackling fraud.
“We have seen an increasing trend in online fraud and crimes involving contactless payments.” A ROMANTIC farmer took the bull by the horns when he proposed to his girlfriend.
Chris Gospel scrawled: “Will you marry me?” on Eilidh Fraser’s favourite cow Curlytop.
And the veterinary lab assistant gave the quirky proposal the thumbs-up by saying yes immediately.
Chris chose Curlytop to convey BY JOHN JEFFAY reporter@dailyrecord.co.uk his message as Eilidh hand-fed her from birth at his farm in Strichen, Aberdeenshire.
The bride-to-be, 30, said: “I came home from work and we went round to check on the cows like we usually do.
“Curlytop is an affectionate cow – she’s like a big pet. She comes running to us and I see she has something blue on her. Curlytop turns and it says, ‘Will you marry me’. It was a complete surprise. I thought it was really nice.”
Chris, also 30, who drew the message with a livestock marker, said: “Eilidh was very excited and filled with joy – everything about it was just perfect.”
