Boss set for explosive exit
BY NICOLA METHVEN CORRIE boss Kate Oates will quit the cobbles with a bang this autumn – with her swansong including two weddings, a car crash and a funeral.
Viewers are guaranteed a rollercoaster ride in explosive plotlines that will affect some of the soap’s best-loved characters.
As Tracy Barlow, played by Kate Ford, and Steve McDonald prepare to tie the knot a second time, she is devastated when stepbrother Daniel decides to get married to Sinead on the same day.
Both marriages look shaky before they’ve even happened, thanks to one half of each couple hiding a massive secret.
Actress Kate says while Tracy’s wedding disaster has lots of laughs, her character is gutted when it ends in tears.
She said: “This is what she’s dreamed about for a long time – she’s always loved Steve and it’s about to become a reality. She believes this is their time.”
Then there’s the car chase, as gangster Ronan tails Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) and her sons Ryan and Ali – with murder on his mind. The plot kicks off when Michelle visits Ronan to plead with him to leave Ryan alone – at Cormac’s wake.
Realising Ronan is not going to stop until he has killed Ryan as revenge for his son’s death, Michelle decides to run.
Kym, 42, who was helped by the stunt team who worked on The Fast & The Furious, said: “It was great. It was one of the most dramatic stunts I’d ever been involved in.”
The episodes will air from Monday, October 8.
