SIMPLY RED TAKEOVER SAYS DAVIE

RESULTS & FIXTURES

-

DAVID MOYES visited Salzburg last month to cast his eye over the Red Bull football franchise that could take over the world.

The former Manchester United manager was blown away by the sheer scale of the set-up that stretches from Austria and Germany all the way to New York and Brazil.

And with that kind of sprawling structure he warned Celtic they will have a fight on their hands facing two of them in the same Europa League group.

On Thursday the Hoops will take on Salzburg in their impressive Red Bull Arena before facing their parent club RB Leipzig three weeks later.

That has raised concerns of a conflict of interest arising in the latter stage of this group with one Red Bull in a position to do the other a favour depending on results against Celtic.

Moyes admits that’s an issue UEFA should examine, although he thinks the more pressing concern for Brendan Rodgers’s side should be simply the quality of two set-ups being bankrolled by football’s fastest growing global conglomerate.

He said: “I was amazed by

Premier League – Bournemouth 2, Crystal Palace 1. La Liga – Celta Vigo 1, Getafe 1. Serie A – Sampdoria 2, SPAL 1. Primeira Liga – Aves 3, Portimonense 0.

(7.45 unless stated) Champions League Group E – AEK v Benfica (8.0), Bayern v Ajax (8.0). F – Hoffenheim v Man City (5.55), Lyon v Shakhtar (8.0). G – CSKA v Real Madrid (8.0), Roma v Plzen (8.0). H– Juventus v Young Boys (5.55) Man U v Valencia (8.0).

Carabao Cup 3rd rd – Everton v Southampton.

Sky Bet Championship – Aston Villa v Preston, Brentford v Birmingham, Hull v Leeds, Ipswich v Middlesbrough, BY EUAN McLEAN the facilities they had. The weekend I was out they were holding an Under-16 tournament with RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, Red Bull New York and Red Bull Brazil.

“Then there was Chelsea, Southampton, Flamengo and a team from Africa and I thought this is a great idea.

“They’ve got a chance to see all Red Bull’s players and they can move them wherever they like really.

“From what I saw the individual clubs are completely separated but it’s a bit like Leipzig are the big brother and they take what they want.

“But if you look at Salzburg, they got to the semi-final of the Europa League last season so they don’t need any support from big brother. They’re able to do it on their own.

“I do know this year one of the players was supposed to go from Salzburg to Leipzig and the owner said no, you’re not doing it. Whereas Leipzig tend to get the pull of the players.

“With that in mind you’d probably think Leipzig would be the stronger team but I think both games will be tough games for Celtic.” Reading v QPR (8.0), Stoke v Bolton (8.0), Wigan v Swansea.

League One – Wimbledon v Bradford Accrington v Doncaster, Barnsley v Plymouth, Burton v Southend, Coventry v Portsmouth, Fleetwood v Wycombe, Oxford v Luton, Rochdale v Bristol Rovers, Scunthorpe v Charlton, Sunderland v Peterborough, Walsall v Shrewsbury
