Boyata’s £80k stolen Range Rover is found

-

BY DAVID MEIKLE CELTIC star Dedryck Boyata’s £80,000 stolen car has been found by police.

The Belgian, 27, told yesterday how he had woken up to find his Range Rover had been swiped from outside his home in East Dunbartonshire overnight.

He posted a photo of an empty driveway online along with a plea for help to find the luxury motor.

Hours later, it was found with burst tyres in Dennistoun, Glasgow.

Boyata took to social media and posted a photo of a burned-out vehicle, joking: “My car has been recovered by the police. They just burst my tyres but it’s OK. Thanks to the people that tried to help. God bless ya.”

The defender added: “Guys, the picture is a joke. They found the car, it’s with the police now, only they’ve burst my tyres, that’s all.”

Police said it was “not in a driveable condition so was recovered by 911”.

Boyata had told his followers on Thursday: “Can Instagram make miracles? Friends, woke up this morning to see my car was gone. I think someone wanted to borrow it and forgot to bring it back.

“If by any chance you see it somewhere, let me know.”

Yesterday, it emerged police are probing a link between the theft and a break-in nearby.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers are also investigating a sneak-in theft at a neighbour’s house in which some personal items were stolen.

“The neighbour told police he had woken at 2.30am and saw a man leaving in a white convertible car. Inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.”
