TOUCHING IMAGES OF HEROES & THEIR KIDS

- BY LAURA ELVIN

BEAMING Millie McSeveney Liddell leaps into her soldier dad’s arms, welcoming him home after six months’ deployment.

The heartwarming image features in a new collection of photographs celebrating military heroes and their kids.

Millie, four, brought a bag of sweets to her dad Jordan, 26, a private in 3 Scots, the Black Watch.

Mum Linzie, 24, said: “Millie was very happy. It the longest her daddy had ever been away, so she was so excited to welcome him home and give him the sweeties she picked for him.”

Goodbye is the theme of another picture – a cuddle between Lillie Rose Messenger, eight, and her RAF stepmum, Corporal Ursula Beetham, 35, as she sets off on a tour with the 1 Air Mobility Wing. The images appear in the Little Troopers Military Moments calendar 2019. Little Troopers help maintain the family bond between children and parents serving in the armed forces. The charity’s Louise Fetigan said: “Once again our military community have sent us some beautiful pictures that truly capture the heartbreaking reality of our family’s lives.

“The last cuddle before a long deployment or that welcome home hug where you just want to hold them forever is so special and we have some of those moments and lots more in next year’s calendar.”
