Lives are at risk because of DWP
YOU will struggle to read a more heartbreaking story today than Victoria Bagnall’s harrowing tale.
Her vivid description of miscarriage gets to the heart of a system seemingly set up to make life painfully hard.
Victoria believes her traumatic miscarriage was brought on by stress linked to the heartless way she and her family were treated as they struggled to get support.
She has always worked and needed help. Her partner, too, just wanted enough to get him through an injury. With a baby on the way and a young boy to feed, surely the DWP should have been there for them.
This family, like so many others, went for assistance but found themselves in a maze designed to keep money away from those who need it most.
Victoria’s family have now joined the growing food bank queue. It’s of no comfort the DWP are only now inviting them back to discuss what support might be available. Too little, too late.
The Record have already revealed how DWP policies allow officials to strike out nurses’ assessments of claimants’ needs.
The department also want you to know the changes are supposed to be a secret.
This looks like underhand tactics designed to cut every penny possible while throwing up smoke and mirrors to hide decisions.
By every measure, whether at the frontline or behind the scenes, this Tory Government care more about tightening their purse strings than holding out a safety net.
