ROBBIE: JOB’S NOT DUN YET

-

ROBBIE NEILSON insists his rejuvenated Dundee United side are not getting carried away by their recent revival.

The Tangerines gaffer made it two Championship games without defeat since replacing Csaba Laszlo following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with promotion rivals Inverness at Tannadice.

United, who won away to Partick Thistle 2-1 the week before, have picked up under Neilson in the wake of a faltering start under Laszlo.

But the former Hearts and MK Dons boss has urged his players to keep their feet firmly on the ground.

Neilson said: “We’re getting there but it’s still early days. The players need to keep showing, energy, enthusiasm and workrate like they did against Inverness.

“If we do that week in week out the fans will be happy to come along and get behind us.

“We know we won’t win every game. The Championship is a difficult league. But we want to make sure we are competitive in every single game, looking ahead to Dunfermline this Saturday.

“It’s a decent start – four points from the first two games – but we have to try and build on that.”

Neilson was thrilled to see fit-again skipper Fraser Fyvie last the whole match against Inverness and expects big things from the former Aberdeen and Hibs midfielder in the weeks ahead.

He added: “That was Fyvie’s first 90 minutes in months. We’re pleased about that.

“That’s a big thing for him and he’ll get stronger with the more game time he gets.”
