MPs in bid to block Robin­son

SCOTS MPs are among 50 lead­ing politi­cians urg­ing the US ad­min­is­tra­tion to ban far-right ac­tivist Tommy Robin­son from en­ter­ing the coun­try.

The group have “grave con­cerns” at plans to let in the for­mer English De­fence League leader.

He has been in­vited to speak in Wash­ing­ton DC on Novem­ber 14.

The group said the visit is “to pro­mote his vi­o­lent and ex­trem­ist agenda”.

The let­ter, ad­dressed to Don­ald Trump’s sec­re­tary of state, Mike Pom­peo, is signed by two Scot­tish MPs, Labour’s Martin Whit­field and the SNP’s Mar­tyn Day.

Robin­son gained a high pro­file in the US af­ter rightwing web­sites took up his cause when he was jailed for con­tempt of court, a sen­tenced later quashed.
