Lag’s escape bid during hospital visit

BY DAVID MEIKLE AN ARMED robber made a desperate bid for freedom by leaping out of a wheelchair and escaping prison guards during a visit to hospital.

Taylor Wright, 24, fled Wishaw General Hospital just after arriving from Shotts Prison for treatment.

The thug surprised his escort by breaking free and running away barefoot.

His guards caught him and he was treated before being returned to jail.

Wright, serving almost six years for threatening to shoot a pensioner, made his escape bid in March.

Wright appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court, where Sheriff Douglas Brown added 19 months to his jail term.
