Moore goes extra mile for Spiders

-

LEAGUE TWO KIERAN MOORE hopes he can gear up for first Queen’s Park start against Peterhead today.

The 18-year-old striker’s dad has been sharing driving duty on his gruelling four-hour round trip from his Ardrishaig home to training in Glasgow.

Former amateur star Moore has come on as a sub in the last five games but now hopes going the extra mile is rewarded with a shot at the Blue Toon.

He said: “Coming here has been a step up and I am lucky that my dad Dougie does some of the driving.

“The boss likes my workrate, hopefully that will see me play against Peterhead.

“A start, a goal and a win for Queen’s Park would be perfect.”

But Peterhead veteran Derek Lyle is also hoping to get on the scoresheet as he plays at the National Stadium for the first time in nearly 14 years.

The 37-year-old hitman is bang in form with five goals in three games as he looks to gun down Spiders.

Lyle said: “I played there with Stirling near the start of my career and I am looking forward to it.

“I’m scoring goals just now as I feel I’ve learned how to get the best out of being a part-time player.”
