JIM CAN OPEN HIS ACCOUNT

DUNDEE v ST MIRREN

-

DARREN O’DEA insists Jim McIntyre’s methods will soon lift Dundee clear of danger.

The Dark Blues have lost four games in a row and failed to score a goal since McIntyre replaced Neil McCann at the helm.

But victory over fellow strugglers St Mirren today would lift them off the bottom and stopper O’Dea insists every player knows what’s expected of them under the new boss.

The Irishman said: “He has stretched the tempo of our play and the energy within the team.

“Each player is accountable for certain jobs. It’s very clear what your job is.

“So if there’s a problem or a mistake it’s quite clear where the finger should be pointed.

“That’s what we need now. There’s no point hiding behind things. We need people to pull each other up and create an environment where we’re pushing each other all the time. It can’t be ‘nicey nicey’ always.

“The team is working extremely hard. I can feel the tempo in training to be a lot higher. I’m sleeping a lot better!”

Dundee haven’t scored since Adil Nabi netted in the 2-1 defeat at home to Kilmarnock a month ago.

But O’Dea believes the strikers will come good, led by experienced campaigner Kenny Miller.

The defender said: “Kenny’s not shy to take pressure. He has done it all his career.

“That won’t affect him. It’s important we support him. We’re not creating enough chances.”
