BOYD: WE SHOULD BE SAINTS NOT SINNERS

-

STEVEN BOYD insists Hamilton need to take a leaf out of St Johnstone’s book and embark a winning run.

The 21-year-old midfielder believes Tommy Wright’s men are the perfect benchmark after watching their opponents today string BY ANTHONY HAGGERY four consecutive league wins together after three straight losses which included 5-1 and 6-0 hammerings by Rangers and Celtic.

Accies travel to McDiarmid Park in high spirits after last weekend’s 1-0 win over Gary Holt’s Livingston.

The victory moved them six points ahead of basement boys Dundee but Boyd is adamant it isn’t certain to save Martin Canning’s men from being involved in another relegation scrap.

He said: “St Johnstone are the form team in the league. It is always tough at their ground.

“Most of the games are pretty tight and St Johnstone have shown in recent weeks that if you can grind out results then you can climb the table.

“We have to try to emulate St Johnstone and go on a winning run ourselves.

“We don’t feel the cushion of six points over the bottom teams is enough as things can change quickly.

“We need a lot more points than that to be safe.

“We need to try to build some momentum.”
