SAVE A SMALL FORTUNE ON CHRISTMAS TOYS

DON’T BE RIPPED OFF THIS CHRISTMAS

- BY ANNA BURNSIDE

CASH-STRAPPED parents can save hundreds of pounds by shopping around for toys this Christmas.

Price comparison site idealo.co.uk have found that a family buying this season’s top 20 toys could save more than £600 by tracking down the best bargains. Boxer, an interactive robot that can play games, interact with your phone and express emotions, comes at a wild range of prices. Idealo found a £135 difference between the cheapest and most expensive retailers. Pomsies, plush pompom-based pets, are more competitively priced with just £3.75 in it.

Idealo’s Katy Phillips said: “Christmas can sometimes end up costing more than we planned for, so it’s vital we save money where we can by comparing prices, especially when purchasing gifts.

“Shoppers can save more than £100 on one gift alone. If a child has a few of these toys on their wish list, it all adds up.

“We’d always recommend shopping around to make sure you get the best price in the run up to the expensive festive season, especially as prices can fluctuate from one day to the next.”

The Idealo app lets shoppers set an alert which notifies them when the item they’re after drops to a price they want to pay. Phillips recommends all parents who are watching their budget use it.
