ROD: I DID CHEAT ON PENNY
Sheepish rocker confesses to ‘dalliance’ years ago
ROCKER Rod Stewart yesterday confessed he’d once cheated on Penny Lancaster but insisted “everything has been wonderful” ever since.
The 73-year-old admitted: “There was one dalliance, yeah.
“You’re talking a long time ago, 20-odd years ago.”
ROD Stewart yesterday admitted he cheated on wife Penny Lancaster when they first got together almost 20 years ago.
The rocker, 73, was put on the spot when he appeared on ITV’s Loose Women and confessed to a fling in 1999, which Penny knew about.
Rod was shown a clip of Penny on the show last year, talking about finding a photograph of him with another woman.
He said: “You’re talking a long time ago, 20-odd years ago. There was one dalliance, yeah. But otherwise we’ve been together and it’s been wonderful and everything.”
He turned to Penny, 47, who was also on the show, and asked: “Is that the answer?”
Rod explained she “put her thumb down” and said: ‘That’s it, you’re seeing me and nobody else. No sharing.”
Rod has eight children by five different mothers.
On Loose Women last year, Penny said she didn’t want to be just “a girlfriend” to him but “the girlfriend”.
Rod had his first child during a one-year fling with art student Susannah Boffey. He then had a series of relationships with models before tying the knot with actress Alana Stewart.
After five years together, Rod cheated on Alana with model Kelly Emberg. Three years later, he ended the relationship for model Rachel Hunter, who became his second wife in 1990.
They separated in 1999 before getting divorced in 2006. After being dumped by Rachel, Rod got together with Penny.
