‘One in million’ Ethan, 17, dies in road smash

Biker, 24, among three killed in just two days WEEKEND OF CARNAGE

BY NICHOLAS KEYDEN reporters@dailyrecor­d.co.uk TRIBUTES have been paid to a “one in a million” teenager killed in a horror car crash yesterday.

Ethan King, 17, who died at the scene on the A915 near Kirkcaldy at about 8.45am, was the third person to die on Scotland’s roads at the weekend.

Two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, remain in critical condition at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary following the crash, which claimed Ethan’s life.

A fourth man, aged 18, was arrested. He is in Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital with serious injuries.

Ethan’s friends and relatives took to Facebook to pay tribute to him. Joe Lafferty said: “One of my best friends taken far too early. RIP Ethan King. You where one in a million.”

Rhianne King said: “He was such a happy go lucky young lad. My big baby cousin is what I called him with the height of him.

“He seemed to have a great load of friends with all the kind messages.”

Police urged anyone who saw a black Vauxhall Corsa at the scene to get in touch.

At about 6.45am on Saturday, Alan Nicholson, 24, from Glasgow, died after his red Suzuki motorbike hit a white Mondeo and burst into flames on the A725 East Kilbride Expressway. The 34-year-old driver is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court today.

An 80-year-old woman also died and three people, including a child, were taken to hospital after a two-car crash on the A1 in East Lothian at 4.30pm on Saturday.

The woman, driving a Yaris, died at the scene. A 30-year-old male driver of a Megane and a 31-year-old woman were seriously injured and taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. A four-year-old boy in their car was taken to the Sick Kids’ Hospital.

Police also revealed a 55-year-old woman was seriously hurt after a twocar smash as she stood at her car in north Glasgow on Saturday night.

A 74-year-old woman driving a Hyundai was taken to hospital, while a 54-year-old male driving a Vectra was unhurt.
