-

BY ALAN McEWEN alan.mcewen@reachplc.com A MUM who had acid thrown over her on her doorstep could lose the sight in one eye, it was claimed yesterday.

Theresa McCann suffered horrific burns to her face, neck and arms after she answered her front door in Edinburgh on Friday evening.

Police asked the public to help them find the masked man who threw the liquid on her face.

A family source said it was “touch and go” whether she would lose the sight in one eye.

It’s understood that Theresa has had plastic surgery to a damaged ear.

A boy suffered burns to his feet after standing in some of the liquid which had spilled on the floor.

Theresa, 37, and the boy were taken to St John’s Hospital in Livingston.

The attack happened at the home Theresa shares with her businessman partner Thomas Tams in Gracemount, Edinburgh.

He rushed Theresa to the bathroom to try to wash off the liquid.

The thug is believed to have escaped in a getaway car. Detectives believe it was a “targeted attack”.

The bungalow was sealed off to allow forensic experts to examine it.

Staining from the liquid could be seen on the doorstep.

Police Scotland said last night: “Our inquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”

The attacker was described as slim, 5ft 11in tall and in his early 20s, and was wearing a grey hooded top and gloves.

Detective Inspector Stevie Rosie said: “Anyone who recognises him, or who has any other relevant information, should contact police immediately.”
