KELLY: CAP CALL CAN TOP IT ALL

-

BY MICHAEL GANNON LIAM KELLY admits a Scotland call would cap a dream season for the Livingston keeper.

The Lions No.1 received a glowing report from gaffer Gary Holt after putting the shutters up against Celtic at the Tony Macaroni Arena yesterday.

The manager is adamant the former Under-21 international should be part of Alex McLeish’s squad but the Rangers youth product is happy collecting clean sheets at Livi while waiting for the nod.

Kelly said: “There are so many good goalies. I have only been in the league for three or four months so there is nothing I can control.

“All I can do is try and play my best for Livingston.

“There are a lot of boys in that team who are deserving of many plaudits. If someone makes a positive decision that we can’t control then brilliant but if not then we just plod away here.

“A call up is every Scottish player’s target. If we get there then brilliant if not then you just plod away at your club and thankfully we are doing well just now.”

Kelly was immense as Livi managed to hold off the late Celtic charge and he said: “I was tired playing in goal standing still so I can’t imagine how the boys in front were feeling!

“We knew that each of us to a man would need to be a nine out of 10 or above and thankfully everyone was near enough there and we got a good result.

“I was happy. Usually I don’t have too much to do because my defence are that good but when I am called upon it is nice to help them out. Celtic create chances against everyone but thankfully they never took any.”
