BREXIT DIARY
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“JUST seen trail for David Mundell‘s speech in London today. Among other comical assertions, he claims that Prime Minister knows Scottish opinion because “she was in Scotland last week” – actually for all of three hours, mostly spent in and around Glasgow Airport.” – Brexit Secretary Mike Russell doesn’t miss and hit the wall.
TWIST OF THE DAY
THE European Court of Justice announced they will rule on Monday, the day before the crucial Commons vote, on whether Article 50 can be cancelled after a challenge brought by a cross-party group of Scottish parliamentarians.
EU VIEW
“IF THERE is no withdrawal treaty, there is no transition, no basis of confidence that we need with the British regarding the future relationship. Now is the moment for everyone to bear their responsibilities.
“You know the British Parliament will give their verdict on this text and on the future relationship in the coming days. It is a vote in which the future of their country is at stake.” – EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier, right, is not for turning.
TODAY
ABOUT 30 Government ministers will visit all corners of the UK in a desperate bid to sell the Brexit deal. Scottish Secretary David Mundell will host a business roundtable in Glasgow.
Meanwhile, Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell begins a two-day vote-gathering trip to Scotland.
