Scotland ace on trial over speeding rap
BY ALEXANDER LAWRIE SCOTLAND and Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths stood trial yesterday after denying a speeding charge.
The 28-year-old, of Wallyford, East Lothian, appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Justice of the Peace Court.
He pled not guilty to driving at 54mph in a 40mph zone on the A90 in Edinburgh on January 21.
Robert Jefferson, 59, a safety camera enforcement officer with Police Scotland, told the court he was on duty at the A90 that day.
He said: “Around 12.44pm, a red Range Rover caught my attention. I activated the laser, which confirmed my suspicions the vehicle was speeding.”
The trial was part-heard due to a lack of court time and was adjourned until December 20.
