O2: We will make up for tech glitch

-

O2 HAVE confirmed they will compensate users affected by the glitch that took the mobile network’s data services offline.

The firm said their 3G and 4G data networks, which were knocked offline by a software issue on Thursday, were restored to normal yesterday.

Some O2 customers also reported being unable to send and receive text messages but O2 said this issue had also been resolved.

The firm said they would be giving their pay monthly, small and medium business and mobile broadband customers credit for two days of monthly airtime subscription charges, to be issued by the end of January.

Pay-as-you-go customers are to be given 10 per cent credit on a top-up in the new year.

O2 UK chief executive Mark Evans apologised to customers.
