Every Saturday we will pick the best letter received during the week and award a £50 prize. This week’s winner is Natalia Low, from Twechar. benches – will have won Labour a lot more votes to come than any mention of Brexit.

Jeremy Corbyn as PM would make a vast amount of people at least have hope where there is currently none.

Benefits shambles

IN THE name of goodness, how many more pages have to be devoted to criticism of Universal Credit before urgent action is taken to help people who are already at their wits’ end?

It shows how politicians aren’t listening when, day after day, we read in the Record about the people who are having to wait for weeks for a payment, by which time they are in even worse financial straits and forced to rely on back-street lenders and food banks.

To see the lack of action by politicians over the past months does not bode well for any improvement in the near future.
