No fear after two years for City ace Galbraith
DANNY GALBRAITH admits he’s counting his blessings at the chance to play his first senior match in two years for Edinburgh City against Annan today.
The 28-year-old recalled how his dad highlighted to him how he’d fallen out of love with the game in the summer of 2017.
Former Manchester United youngster Galbraith had just been released by York and the misdiagnosis of a degenerative heel injury had left him sidelined for the foreseeable future.
He chose to temporarily step away from the sport and concentrated completing a degree in journalism.
Now fully fit, content on and off the pitch, and fresh from returning to the game with Edinburgh City, Galbraith said: “I remember during the summer of 2017, when there was all that uncertainty about my future, telling my dad that I was considering going in a different direction.
“He just said, ‘When was the last time you even enjoyed playing a game of football?’ I had to think back a long time.
“When I started training at Edinburgh City I wanted to enjoy it again. And I have. It’s not until you are back within a squad environment you realise how much you miss it.”
Meanwhile, Annan will have new assistant Darren Barr in the dugout for the first time today.
