GERS TO HELP NOT HAMMER BAD BOY

The 17-goal Colombian’s sending off was the eighth of the season for Gers and came just 24 hours after Steven Gerrard warned his players in a meeting to sort out their discipline.

Light Blues No.2 Gary McAllister admitted there is an issue where striker Morelos is concerned and warned he must learn to cut out the cards.

McAllister said: “Alfredo is a young player who we value and we want to try to help him through the other side of this.

“It is a little issue. He is a goalscorer and they are hard to find. We have got a young player who is very competitive and our main goal threat.

“When he does get a yellow card his whole dynamic has to change because he runs the risk of a second yellow.

“We will continue to feed that to him because we care for him and think he is a massive talent.

“He has got the respect of the dressing room but he has got to stay on the pitch. He is paying the biggest price because he loves scoring and with red cards you miss games.”

Gers are also without Scott Arfield after he was dismissed at Tynecastle last weekend, prompting Gerrard’s summit.

McAllister said: “It’s happened too often. But it’s not for the lack of trying to put it right.”
