SON’S SLEEP ISSUES

-

calm and happy. I just wish we had known about the charity earlier.

“We had five years of Arran not sleeping, with no respite. Once, I went without sleep for 36 hours. I was exhausted.

“Now, I can sleep, too, and my relationship with my partner has improved as we get enough sleep.”

Newlife CEO Sheila Brown, a mother of two disabled children, said: “All children have the right to be safe and free from pain. They also have a right to learn and reach their potential regardless of diagnosis or disability.

“But every single day severely disabled and terminally ill children are denied their fundamental rights because existing policies preclude them, or decisions are made based on frugality rather than health and necessity.

“The result is children are left to suffer in pain, their safety is compromised and they are isolated from the world.”

A Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board spokesman said: “We provide specialist equipment for children with additional support needs following an assessment of the child’s requirements by the appropriate staff.”
