NO FRINGE BENEFITS

European campaign has been full of highs with the Ibrox side having battled their way to this point from taking part in the first qualifying round of the Europa league in June. “But it’s certainly a welcome break in the league because our last two performances in the league have been miles away from what I’m looking for. “We will see what Thursday brings in terms of performance but if we perform anything like the last two games we will be out of Europe for sure. The performances are out of character and individuals are putting in bad performances.”

Midfielder Rossiter was one of the players who has been desperate to get back into the Light Blues first team. But he was one of the men who failed to inspire on a drab day at Dens that ended in bitter disappointment for the Ibrox side.

Scouser Rossiter knows it’s back to the drawing board for him and his mates. He said: “I’ve just been waiting patiently and working hard.

“Don’t get me wrong, it has been frustrating at times not getting a sniff since October.

“But I just need to keep on working and hopefully get more chances in the future.

“The gaffer has given a lot of lads their chance today and we haven’t repaid them. It was a disappointing result. But it’s still all to play for and hopefully we can go and get three points next week.

“I thought we passed the ball well but that final shot or final pass and the decision-making wasn’t quite there today.

“The lads know that. We’ve spoken about it in the changing room and we need to put it right quickly.

“Last week we were top of the table. That’s football, you can be the highest of the high one week and the lowest of the low another. We need to keep on chipping away and I’m sure it will work out.

“The lads have now got a massive Europa League game. If we go and win that it’s not forgotten about but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

“We need to go over there and win so we need to shore up our attacking play. We’ve been good in Europe so I think we will come out on top.”
