Gerrard slams Gers as they fail to show up against 10-man Dee SPFL official snubs boss as he tries to query disallowed goal

- BY ALAN MARSHALL

STEVEN GERRARD last night laid into his Rangers flops – and the SPFL delegate who scarpered and left him standing.

The Ibrox boss hit out at the dismal show from his Gers side in the draw with 10-man Dundee.

But while he is baffled by the performance level in a dreadful display at Dens Park, Gerrard was just as confused by the attitude of match delegate Jim Neil.

Rangers were up in arms about a first-half goal that didn’t stand after Kyle Lafferty was flagged for being offside. But before he could ask

questions to the official SPFL representative at the game, the Ibrox gaffer was snubbed.

Gerrard said: “It looked okay to me. The official delegate has asked me if I had anything to say about the officials but before I could open my mouth he walked past me and left.

“I can’t say any more or I would get into trouble. He said, ‘Was everything all right?’ and woof – he was off!

“I’d have asked him what do you think of our second goal and I’d have liked an answer. He must have plans because he was gone sharpish.”

When asked if the actions of the delegate showed a lack of respect, Gerrard said: “I don’t know, you’d have to ask him.”

Kenny Miller stuck the knife into his old team with the opening goal for the Dark Blues before a red card for Nathan Ralph opened the way for Andy Halliday to level for Gerrard’s men with a rasping free-kick.

But the Rangers boss was fizzing at the way his team failed to cash in on the one-man advantage and missed the chance to move level on points with Celtic at the top of the Premiership pile.

Gerrard said: “The last two performances have been really poor and I take responsibility for that.

“Seven days ago we were top and it’s looking like we have players who can handle the responsibility of being a Rangers player.

“The last two performances don’t look like us and the team I’m trying to build.

“Individuals are not stepping up and playing at a level that is acceptable.

“We started the game really poorly and Kenny Miller – who we know really well – ran us ragged from the start to the time he left the pitch.

“The decision went our way with the sending-off and Andy puts in a fantastic free-kick.

“We should have then played with our brains, made the pitch big and passed and the chances would have come.

“Instead we did the exact opposite and complicated it. We took too many touches, made bad decisions all over the pitch. I’m very surprised with our last two performances because I haven’t seen that since I came in.”
